Disney Investor Day was December 10 and it brought some much needed excitement to the end of 2020!  In summary, it's a VERY good time to be a Disney+ subscriber with so much content coming to the streaming service and an exciting slate of theatrical releases as well.  Disney has an incredible line-up of work coming in the months and years ahead so I'm not going to mince any words and simply get to sharing some exciting news!

Disney Investor Day News from Walt Disney Studios

  • A new Disney+ original film, Flora and Ulysses will begin streaming on February 19th.  This story tells the tall of a "cynical young comic book fan and her superpowered squirrel sidekick."  Sounds like fun!  Can't wait for Disney+ original content?  Check out Godmothered and Safety in the meantime!
  • The cast of Disney's live-action The Little Mermaid was unveiled featuring exciting announcements like Halle Bailey as Ariel, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, and Awkwafina as Scuttle.  The movie will feature some favorite songs from the original and also new music from Alan Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda!  Until this gets released you can catch Lin-Manuel Miranda and Daveed Diggs in Hamilton on Disney+.
  • Some other Disney classics are also getting new makeovers for Disney+ releases.  Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers starring John Mulaney as Chip and Andy Samberg as Dale will soon be arriving on Disney+.  Peter Pan & Wendy will by flying onto the streaming service soon starting Jude Law as Captain Hook.  And perhaps the announcement I'm most excited about, Tom Hanks will be starring in a new Pinocchio directed by the great Robert Zemeckis.
