Looking for something different to Netflix with your family?  You may want to check out Animals on the Loose: A YOU vs. Wild Movie starring Bear Grylls!  I'll be honest, this movie intrigued me from the moment I heard about it.  I remember reading books and playing games where the outcome is decided by the decisions you make.  Now that same experience is brought to your TV with Animals on the Loose.  In this film YOU make the decisions that determine how the plot unfolds.  Does it live up to the hype and is it something your kids will enjoy?  Let's take a closer look!

Animals on the Loose: A YOU vs. Wild Movie Review

If you're familiar with Bear Grylls and his adventures on TV, you pretty much have an idea of what to expect.  There is a lot of extreme outdoor adventure with a hint of danger and "ewww" moments as well.  The movie starts out identifying a problem in a South African Wildlife Preserve.  As the decision maker in the movie, you need to choose which of the problems to solve first - but choose carefully, as your choices can have big impacts on the overall success of your mission.  Within each problem that you're solving, there are more choices to make like which food to eat or what to do next.

From an entertainment perspective, this is a pretty fun concept.  I enjoyed the interactive nature of it and it takes television from something you passively observe happening to something that you can actively engage in with the family.  Bear Grylls is a little over-the-top, but it's part of the appeal of his shows and his personality and it also leads to a high drama feel every moment that you're watching.  Animals on the Loose: A YOU vs. Wild Movie is fun and certainly something different to enjoy on Netflix.

Animals on the Loose: A YOU vs. Wild Movie - Is It OK for Kids?

Animals on the Loose: A You vs. Wild Movie - Production Stills
Animals on the Loose is something the whole family can enjoy.  While the youngest audiences won't get it, elementary school and older will enjoy being part of the decision making that goes into the film experience.  At under an hour, the time is right to hold young attention spans.  While the content is intense and drama filled, there's nothing too scary or inappropriate about this for little kids.  In fact, they'll likely enjoy the ideas of eating bugs, spotting elephant dung, and wrestling with a snake. . .well, at least they will if they'll like my boys!  If you're watching with multiple kids, you may want to set some "rules" before you start watching about who will get to make what decisions.  Will you take turns or watch it once with one kid making the decisions and a second time with the other kid making the decisions?  Or maybe you'll vote as a family each time a decision has to be made?  My boys fight with each other ALL THE TIME when it comes to who is in charge, so this was an important part of the viewing experience for us.  Overall, Animals on the Loose: A YOU vs. Wild Movie will be something that both entertains your kids and gets them thinking along the way!
