Secret Magic Control Agency is now streaming on Netflix and offers a fun and creative twist on a familiar fairy tale.
Secret Magic Control Agency - Movie Review
Secret Magic Control Agency opens with Hansel and Gretel, not as children, but as adults who have gone their separate ways in life. Gretel is an agent with the Secret Magic Control Agency and when the king is kidnapped, it's going to take teaming up with her estranged brother to solve this case. Along the way, a bit of magic unfolds and Hansel and Gretel are transformed back into children. Solving a royal kidnapping is difficult, but even more so when the world sees you as a child. The two of them learn a lot about each other and themselves as they travel through new places and solve mysteries to unlock the puzzle. They even meet an old witch in the woods who likes to cook children. . .hmmm. . .that sounds familiar!

The story is original and full of fun. A royal kidnapping is nothing new, but taking familiar characters like Hansel and Gretel and writing a completely new background story creates a great family film. My six-year old was enchanted by the film - the bright colors, animation, and candy inspired characters. The villain in the movie is more sour than sweet, even though her weapon of choice is cookies! There are a number of life lessons the also permeate throughout the movie including not judging a book by it's cover, second chances, and the strength of family.

Secret Magic Control Agency is a solid choice for family movie night from Netflix who continues to pump out great family content. It's perfectly appropriate for younger audiences and one that parents won't mind watching either. I enjoyed the way the movie ended to, which left an option for some more Secret Magic Control Agency content to come. . .maybe another movie down the road?
