The Addams Family 2 Movie Review

The Addams Family 2 is full of star power with big names like Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloe Grace Moretz, Bill Hader, Bette Midler, Wallace Shaw, and Snoop Dogg headlining a talented cast.  In this sequel, the Addams family is feeling a little disconnected from each other.  Gomez decides a little family bonding on a long road trip is just what they need.  When the family loads into the camper and heads out for adventure, things turn pretty kooky pretty quick. . .even for this family!  The father-daughter relationship is on full display as Wednesday and Gomez take center stage throughout the film.  As some unusual and wild events take place, we learn just how powerful the love of family can be.

I was looking forward to a family film full of laughs, but thought the film was a little dry for me.  Don't get me wrong - it's very on point with the "character" of the Addams family.  It's just not the same level of comedic timing that I look for and enjoy when picking an animated movie.  To me, the movie was a little slow, but my six year old son loved it and wanted to watch it again and again.  His favorite scene was in a biker bar (don't worry - it's done pretty appropriately for the kids watching!) where there was a pretty funny sequence.  The relationship between Wednesday and Pugsley is also something all siblings can probably relate to on a certain level.  So from where I sit, this is a solid movie for younger audiences to enjoy, but parents may not have the same feelings as their little ones at home.

The Addams Family 2 is now showing in theaters and available on demand!

About The Addams Family 2 (From MGM Studios)

Everyone’s favorite spooky family is back in the animated comedy sequel, The Addams Family 2. In this all new movie we find Morticia and Gomez distraught that their children are growing up, skipping family dinners, and totally consumed with “scream time.” To reclaim their bond they decide to cram Wednesday, Pugsley, Uncle Fester and the crew into their haunted camper and hit the road for one last miserable family vacation. Their adventure across America takes them out of their element and into hilarious run-ins with their iconic cousin, It, as well as many new kooky characters. What could possibly go wrong?
