Tim Allen is back reprising his role as Santa Claus (aka Scott Calvin) in the new Disney+ series, The Santa Clauses. The Santa Clauses picks up with Santa having settled into his role and life in the North Pole. With two kids and Mrs. Claus by his side, he begins to contemplate what comes next. After 28 years of being Santa, is it time to hang up the reindeer reins??

The Santa Clauses is releasing new episodes on Disney+ each week. After viewing the first two episodes, it's clear that Tim Allen hasn't lost his charm as Santa all these years later. The nostalgia hits you right from the start with and your heart is immediately warmed - like a mug of hot chocolate. There is just something truly lovable about Tim Allen!

I do feel like there were several plot holes after the first two episodes, but I'm hoping the series will continue to fill them in as new content is released. For example, we last left Santa and the Mrs. having their first baby together, with a teenage Charlie from his first marriage. Now Charlie is all grown up with a family of his own and Santa and Mrs. Claus have two children of their own. You can tell their kids are struggling with life in the North Pole, but I'd love to see more character development of those two. I also feel like Mrs. Claus has been under utilized so far. She has always been such a voice of reason for Santa / Scott - give me more Mrs. Claus!
I think it's interesting that Disney chose to make this a series instead of a movie. I guess they feel that they have a longer story to tell than the movie itself would allow. The first two episodes were charming and good enough to keep me wanting to come back for more. Let's see what happens in this chapter of Santa's life!

Scott struggles to keep up with the demands of the job, as well as being there for his family. Upon discovering there is a way to retire from his post, Scott considers stepping down as Santa Claus and finding a worthy successor so that he can become a better father and husband.
