Ever since I've heard that The Super Mario Bros. Movie was coming to the big screen the 80s kid and millennial mom has been waiting with all sorts of excitement.  I remember my very first Nintendo Entertainment System (much like Neil Patrick Harris in 8-Bit Christmas), and spending hours doing battle with Bowser and all sorts of enemy foes in my quest to save Princess Peach.  Now as a mom to two boys who love the Nintendo Switch, I've watched a whole new generation fall in love with these iconic characters as they race through the streets in Mario Kart.  Finally, we have a trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie and it does not disappoint!

The Super Mario Bros. Movie - Movie Trailer

I don't know about anyone else, but I immediately fell in love with this trailer about 5 seconds in.  The visuals and nostalgia alone make this a movie I know I want to see, but the glimpses of story and talented voice cast promise to make this a fan favorite.

Let's start with a few things I love about the story already.  There appears to be an effortless blend of characters from across a variety of games that have come together in this film.  I remember what it was like to try and rescue Princess Peach from Bowser in the castle as a kid, but I love that the new movie makes Princess Peach a force to be reckoned with all by herself.

How many recognizable voices were you able to pick out of that trailer too?  Chris Pratt stars as Mario, but did you also notice Seth Rogen (Donkey Kong), Jack Black (Bowser), Keegan-Michael Key (Toad), and Fred Armisen (Cranky Kong).  It's no wonder this trailer is already captivating audiences!

The Super Mario Bros. Movie releases April 7, 2023 in theaters only!
